How To Use Desktop Renamer

Step 1: Set Up the App

1. Install the latest version of Desktop Space Renamer from the App Store.

2. When prompted, grant Accessibility permissions so the app can detect and switch desktops.

3. Click the 📌 menu bar icon to open the app.

4. Select “Add Desktops” from the menu.

5. In the top right corner, click the ➕ button to create new desktops.

6. Add as many desktops as you need — the app currently supports up to 10.

Step 2: Enable Mission Control Keyboard Shortcuts

1. Open System Settings, or click “Add Mission Control Shortcuts” in the 📌 app menu.

2. Navigate to Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts.

3. On the left, select Mission Control.

4. On the right click the Mission Control Dropdown arrow.

5. Then, make sure the check boxes for “Switch to Desktop 1, 2, 3…” are enabled.

Step 3: Open the App Menu

Click the 📌 pin icon in your Mac’s top menu bar. That’s where Desktop Space Renamer lives.

You’ll now see a list of all your current desktop spaces.

Step 4: Name Your Desktops

Next to each desktop in the list, click the 📝 pencil icon to rename it. You can use text, emoji, or both! For example:

• 🎮 Games

• 📚 Work

• 🏠 Personal

You can click any name in the list to instantly switch to that Desktop Space.

Important Note:

The custom names won’t appear inside Mission Control — macOS will still show “Desktop 1,” “Desktop 2,” etc. But your names will appear in the 📌 app menu, making it much easier to tell your desktops apart and switch between them quickly.
